We lost our 3-year-old daughter "Brie" in a drowning accident on June 23, 2013.
We created the Live For Brie Foundation to do our best to prevent another family from having to go through such a tragedy. In addition, Live for Brie Foundation is committed to help, through financial and emotional support, those families who have lost a child in a drowning accident.
Drowning is the leading cause of death of children ages 5 and under
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (www.cdc.gov) and the Consumer Product Safety Commission:
Drowning is the 2nd leading cause of unintentional death of children in the U.S.
Drowning kills more children 1-4 years of age than anything else except birth defects.
2,600 children are treated in hospital emergency rooms each year for near-drowning accidents.
350 children drown in pools every year in the U.S.
In Florida, California, and Arizona, drowning is the leading cause of accidental death to children under 5 years of age.
Each year about 4,000 people drown in the U.S.
